MG&A offers a range of training options, from comprehensive multi-day classes to short webinars on Customized Employment, Discovery, and Systematic Instruction, in addition to other topics related to inclusive employment and inclusion of individuals with disabilities in their communities.

Gateway Training

The Gateway Training is our most requested training. It is comprehensive and serves as the avenue to access an ACRE Certificate (see right), as well as confers eligibility to work for and achieve an MG&A Performance-Based Certification in the content area explored in training.

MG&A’s training takes place over the course of 24 hours, presented

  • in-person, in eight [8]-hour sessions over three [3] days, or

  • virtually, in four [4]-hour sessions over six [6] days.

Marc Gold and associates & ACRE

MG&A is a proud member of the Association of Community Rehabilitation Educators (ACRE).

MG&A offers a “National Certificate of Achievement in Employment Services: Basic Level, with Emphasis in Customized Employment” for successful completion of Gateway Training in Discovery and Customized Job Development. This ACRE Certificate of Achievement demonstrates that the bearer has completed the relevant MG&A courses in both those fields.

HOW LONG IS IT VALID?

ACRE offers lifetime Certificates of Achievement. 

MG&A Performance-Based Certification (see bottom of page) is also available for those who attend the Gateway courses in Discovery, Customized Job Development, and Systematic Instruction. This certification is valid for three (3) years.

GATEWAY TRAINING, IN DETAIL:

DISCOVERY GATEWAY TRAINING

This course provides the fundamental knowledge and information needed to conduct Discovery, including:

  • Using qualitative research strategies (conversation, interview, observation and participation) to gather information about the employment-seeker;

  • Spending time with the employment-seeker in a variety of settings;

  • Capturing Information in the Profile;

  • Facilitating the Customized Employment Planning Meeting; and

  • Developing the Visual Resume

CUSTOMIZED JOB DEVELOPMENT GATEWAY TRAINING

This course provides the core competencies needed to conduct Customized Job Development, including:

  • Building Job Development on the foundation of Discovery;

  • Developing the Concept Portfolio; 

  • Conducting an Employer Needs and Benefits Analysis;

  • Researching, contacting, and presenting to employers; and

  • Negotiating with employers to cultivate the ideal job match

SYSTEMATIC INSTRUCTION GATEWAY TRAINING

This course covers the fundamental aspects of supporting competitive integrated employment, including:

  • Introduction to community based employment supports;

  • The 7 Phase Sequence

  • Cultivating Natural Supports;

  • Instruction and training strategies;

  • Data collection;

  • Providing support in the context of the employer/ employee relationship; and

  • Critical values for supporting employment

PERFORMANCE-BASED CERTIFICATION

While the ACRE Certificate is earned through attendance and participation in the training, Performance-Based Certification is a separate “deeper dive,” hands-on approach to learning these strategies with support from a mentor with expertise in each specific area.
